Pedestrian hit in Ridgefield dies

The pedestrian struck by a car last night in Ridgefield has died, according to police.

The Ridgefield Press reports the victim was a 15-year-old female.

The  pedestrian was struck in the area of 570 Ridgebury Road around 9:30 p.m.

The victim was transported to Danbury Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital, Acting Fire Chief Kevin Tappe told the Ridgefield Press.

The name of the victim and the driver of the vehicle have not yet been released.

Emergency crews  took the person to a Danbury Hospital.

EARLIER POST FROM FRIDAY NIGHT

A pedestrian reportedly suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car Friday night in Ridgefield.

The accident happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Ridgebury Road near George Washington Highway in the northern part of town.

Emergency crews were reportedly preparing to take the person to a hospital.
