DANBURY — City police arrested a Steven Street man last week on charges related to his alleged sale of of cocaine.

Aaron Harris, 18, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, interfering with a search warrant, destruction of evidence and charges related to his alleged business’ proximity to schools and housing complexes in the city.

Members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division and the Community Conditions Unit executed a search warrant on Harris’ apartment on Friday and found he had employed “security mechanisms” in his home to alert him of someone’s arrival and to fortify the entrance into the home, police said in a news release issued Wednesday.

Officers found crack packaged for sale inside the home during the search, police said. Members of the city’s SWAT team had to force entry into the home to get beyond its fortified entrance, police said. While officers were entering, Harris allegedly attempted to destroy evidence in the home.

Harris was held on $50,000 bond after his arrest.
