Jeff Watts and the Vanguard Band

wattsA great drummer and a great band will be headliners at the 19th annual jazz festival at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

On Friday, Watts will perform with his quartet and with the Western Jazz Orchestra  on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m.

The following night, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra – the house band of the famed Village Vanguard  jazz club in New York  – will play at 7  p.m.

The festival will begin Thursday, April 24 with  performances at  2 p.m. and at 7 p.m., featuring five Western student jazz ensembles in performance with members of the Western faculty.

All the concerts will be at Ives Concert Hall on the university’s midtown campus  at 181 White Street.

General admission for the Friday concert will be $15, with a price of $10 for seniors, students with valid ID, and children 12 and under. Admission for the Saturday concert will be $25, with a fee of $15 for seniors, students with valid ID, and children 12 and under.
