Memorial Day 5K set in Danbury

DANBURY — Registration is now open for a 5K road race that will be held in conjunction with the city’s Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26.

The race, hosted by CityCenter Danbury and Danbury police, will set off from the Green at 8:45 a.m., continue on to Main Street, and return to the Green for the finish, past crowds lined up for the annual parade.

Entry fee for the race is $25 through Friday and $30 up to and including the day of the race. Race day registration will start at 7 p.m.

Proceeds will support Building Home for Heroes, a program that helps build homes for severely wounded veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. The event is sponsored by Cartus, Matrix Conference and Banquet Center, Liberty Closet and Garage, Buffalo Wild Wings and Ingersoll Auto.

T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 500 registered runners.
