NEW MILFORD — Police have released the name of the 49-year-old New Milford man who died during Tuesday night’s storm when a tree and live wires fell on his vehicle.

Kevin Mateer died after rain and high winds brought down live wires on his car while driving eastbound on Vann Carr Road  about 7:04 p.m., police said.  The vehicle caught fire and Materr tried to escape the flames. It is believe he was electrocuted as he fled his vehicle, according to Lt. Larry Ash.
