Gun shown at bar leads to arrest

DANBURY — A 23-year-old city man was arrested early Saturday for criminal possession of a handgun by a felon.

Travis Babcock was arrested at just after midnight when officers were flagged down by Mambo bar security about a man causing a problem. A woman pointed out Babcock as the man who had revealed to her that he was carrying a gun, police said. On checking Babcock’s name, officers discovered an outstanding warrant for violation of probation and as they checked the area, found a handgun, police said.

Babcock was charged with violation of probation, carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit and criminal possession of a pistol or revolver by a felon.

He was held on $40,000 on all charges with a court date of June 16 in Superior Court in Danbury.
