Motorcyclist injured in New Milford UPDATE

UPDATE: JUNE 16: Police have released the name of the motorcyclist injured in Sunday’s crash on Grove Road in New Milford.

Joshua Doutney, 31, of New Milford was transported to Danbury Hospital with moderate injuries Sunday following the accident, police said.

The driver of the 1992 Buick sedan that struck Doutney was Bettie Maclay, 76, of Brookfield. Maclay was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.

NEW MILFORD — A motorcyclist was taken to Danbury Hospital Sunday morning after an accident that closed Grove Street for more than an hour.

The accident occurred at the Hine Hill Road intersection about 10:36 a.m., according to Chief Jim Ferlow, of Water Witch Hose Co. 2.

The road was closed between Fordyce and Hine Hill Road until about 11:30 a.m.

Names of the parties involved and the extent of the injuries weren’t immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation, but the motorcyclist, described only as a male operator, appeared to be northbound on Grove Street when he was struck by a car making a left turn onto Grove Street from Hine Hill Road.
