Two cited in five-car crash on Interstate 84

UPDATE

State police cited two drivers for causing a five-car crash that sent three to the hospital with minor injuries Friday.

State police said Thomas Depetrillo, of Kingstown, R.I., and Denzel Colden, of Danbury, were driving too fast for conditions in their respective vehicles when each rear-ended other cars setting off a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved five vehicles.

NEWTOWN — The right lane of Interstate 84 westbound is closed due to a multi-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred between exits 10 and 9 at about 3:49 p.m., according to state Department of Transportation.

As of 5 p.m., the right lane of the highway remained closed.
