Homeless man held on assault charges

NEW MILFORD — A 48-year-old homeless man is being held on charges of assault and robbery.
Edwin Gibbons, of New Milford was arrested July 30 at about 2:10 p.m. when police located him after responding to the report of an assault in the area of 48 Bank St. The victim of the alleged assault told police Gibbons had taken money from him, police said.
Gibbons was charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and second-degree larceny. He was arraigned Thursday and held on a $1,000 court set bond with a next court date of Aug. 28 in Superior Court in Bantam.
