Ridgefield Olympian’s father tells the world his son is single

Tucker West may not have a medal around his neck, but he may be taking home a new girlfriend thanks to his dad, Brett West.

The proud father and budding matchmaker announced on the “Today Show” Sunday that his 18-year-old son and first-time Olympic luger is “very single.”

“Now, he’s a little shy, so you have to reach out to him. And you can do that through, on Facebook, his page ‘Team Tucker.’ And the neat part is, he’s such a good kid, everyone who posts there he always gives back a personal response,” Brett West told “Today.”

Tucker, of Ridgefield, was “mortified,” naturally, by the very public disclosure of his relationship status. That being said, he can’t stay mad at his dad, who built an 800-foot luge track for Tucker in the family’s backyard.

Tucker, who finished 22nd overall in the luge, and nine spots behind top American luger Christopher Mazdzer, might not have any time for dating, anyway. He’s already started training for the next Olympics.
