UConn down 37-24 but some signs of life from the Huskies.
The UConn defense forced one of those things where a guy lines up 15 yards behind the center and kicks it the other way. I think it’s called a punt. No one in a black jersey had done it before that moment so I can’t be sure.
Jordan Todman then broke off a long run (Cincinnati DB Brad Jones might want to look for his athletic supporter. I think he left it at the 30-yard line during Todman’s cut-back run), covering 46 yards for a touchdown.
That made it 30-17 and UConn was (kind of) in the game for a minute. Then Cincinnati scored quickly again (their usual…80 yards…three minutes…piece of cake). QB Zach Collaros covered the final 28 yards. He ran the final 8 yards or so backwards after UConn LB Lawrence Wilson hit him but failed to wrap up, allowing Collaros to waltz in.
But Robert McClain’s 87-yard punt return for a touchdown actually did make it a game. UConn was down 37-24 with 2:08 left in the third quarter.
Of course, Cincinnati’s in the red zone again and about to score…but I digress.
