It was Doron day at Gampel Pavilion.
The day before UConn was set to play Colgate and memories of former UConn guard Doron Sheffer came rushing back, the Huskies hosted standout guard Doron Lamb for an official visit.
Lamb, a 6-foot-4 star from New York City who attends Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, is among the top shooting guards in the nation. His teammates at Oak Hill include Roscoe Smith, a 6-7 forward the Huskies are also recruiting.
Lamb said he’s considering Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, Arizona and Oklahoma (in no particular order) at this point. The trip to Storrs is Lamb’s fourth visit and he says he’ll probably visit Arizona soon (though he’s made no firm plans).
“I’m just looking for a good coaching staff, a winning school, good players that I can work around, fans that are crazy _ I like that,” Lamb said.
Lamb’s plan is to commit early but not sign a Letter of Intent until the spring signing period.
Lamb only arrived late Saturday night and is scheduled to depart Monday afternoon (before UConn’s game with Colgate). He’s already had a chance to sit down with the UConn coaches, however.
“They’re saying I would be a good fit in the system and that it’s best for me, stuff like that,” Lamb said. “And that I’ll be a pro, that’s what they’re saying. Everybody’s saying that but…”
Apparently a lot of people believe Lamb is going to be good. (This just in, he probably will be)
Lamb scored 32 Saturday in an easy Oak Hill victory.
