Lloyd to redshirt

UConn LB Greg Lloyd, who hurt his left knee toward the end of last season, will redshirt in the upcoming season.

Speaking at a UConn Alumni Association event Thursday night, head coach Randy Edsall also said Lloyd will stay at linebacker, and not move to defensive end.

Edsall announced a few other position moves, including Martin Hyppolite’s switch from running back to Husky (safety hybrid) linebacker.

LB Jory Johnson hurt his wrist recently and the staff is concerned about depth at Husky.

More details soon….

– Also David Kenney is moving from safety to Husky linebacker.

Chris Lopes is moving back to corner from safety.

– Incoming freshmen Josh Alexander (not linebacker) and Byron Jones (not corner) will both play safety.
