Brown’s visit to UConn included football game

Sorry basketball fans. It’s been a long day. Almost forgot to post this.

Had a chance to talk to Jabari Brown before the UConn football game. He’s the 6-5 guard from Oakland who is on an official visit to UConn this weekend.

First impressions? Well-spoken, nice young man. Probably can play, too, from what everyone says.

Brown says he has five schools on his list now: Washington, Arizona State, Oregon, Georgia Tech and UConn. Geography obviously doesn’t matter.

“It doesn’t matter to me. I’m just trying to find the right fit,” Brown said.

He’s already been to Washington and will make the three other visits in the next month.

“I just want to see every school,” said Brown, who was joined by his parents David and Fannie, and brother Jamil Saturday. “I have to be able to go out there and experience what life might be like.”

Brown is the fifth-best shooting guard in the Class of 2011 according to UConn coach Jim Calhoun has seemingly been turning on the charm.

“He’s just telling me how much they want me here and how he feels I’d be a great fit for the program,” Brown said. “I definitely feel a level of comfort with coach Calhoun. I think that would grow if I were to come here.”

Brown spent Friday night and Saturday morning with the Huskies.

“I got to hang out with them last night. It was cool. They’re all good guys,” Brown said.

Brown said he considers himself a combo guard. What are his strengths?

“I would say scoring the ball, being able to find my teammates and just being a competitor,” Brown said.
