George DeLeone, a longtime member of Paul Pasqualoni’s Syracuse staff and a veteran of some 38 years in coaching, is about to join Pasqualoni’s staff at UConn.
DeLeone, a New Haven native, Fairfield Prep graduate and UConn alumnus, is expected to be named the Huskies’ offensive coordinator Friday according to a source at the school.
Joe Moorhead, UConn’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons under Randy Edsall, might still remain on the Husky staff. Moorhead is, however, a candidate for the head coaching job at Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The rest of Pasqualoni’s staff will seemingly be assembled very soon.
In other UConn coaching news, it seems Todd Orlando, the team’s defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach, is set to join Mario Cristobal’s staff at Florida International.
Geoff Collins left FIU recently to become the co-defensive coordinator at Mississippi State. An FIU spokesman said no official announcement would be made Thursday in regards to its coaching staff.
