Unless its gets an 11th hour reprieve, the Westhill High School softball team’s season is over. According to Vikings coach Tom Pia, the CIAC has upheld NFA’s protest this morning and told the team not to make the trip to Stamford.
Pia said in the state tournament packet it states that even if an umpire makes a mistake, the results on the field stand.
Pia said the CIAC is getting hold of the official who upheld the Vikings’ protest yesterday. A final decision is supposed to be made by 1 p.m.
I will stay on top of this story and post an update as soon as I have it.

Not sure Anonymous — you keep writing a lot by that name — what wasn’t clarified. There are no official scorers, I have in there why the game didn’t get finished yesterday and you seem to be basing this a lot on your own inaccurate assumptions on what you think should have happened.
A lot is going on right now — all I can tell you is a lot of mistakes were made — and there will be another story tomorrow.
Dave,
Once the first protest was lodged by Westhill the CIAC protest committee should hear the protest and rule instantly so that the game continues right there. The protest should have been resolved before the game continued. In that case Jen Joseph would have been allowed to finish the game. Clearly, the CIAC has dropped the ball once again and clearly the Umpiring crew had no clue as to how to handle this. For example, the Umpire should have retorted back to the Coach “you want a courtesy runner or a pinch runner?”. Then once she is back on the mound, at the very least the Umpire should have asked did you reinsert her assuming it was a pinch runner and not a courtesy runner.
Was there an official scorer to the game ?
Why didn’t the game get finished yesterday ?
There are A LOT OF unanswered questions from your article Dave that should be clarified.
