Poll: Which Is The FCIAC’s Best Football Team?

New Canaan and Staples are undefeated. Greenwich has one loss and plays the Rams Friday night. Bridgeport Central and Darien have been hot. St. Joseph and Ridgefield have just one loss apiece but seem to have lost the love.

The FCIAC regular season is getting ready for the final turn, and there are a number of big games each of the next three weeks.

Still, the discussion over which two teams will meet for the FCIAC football title — and which team will win the title — has been getting louder and louder.

So I’m asking all of you: which team is the best in the FCIAC? I’ve given you seven choices and until noon on Friday to decide.

  1. people really ruin the entire pole process when a team like st. joes gets 0 votes and a team like Darien gets a vote…root for your team just be realistic…its either NC or Staples

  4. Dave,

Hard to tell who has the best team until this weekend. The New Canaan vs. Greenwich game should be a classic.

Darien has really improved and will give New Canaan all they can handle on Thanksgiving Day.

Right now Darien and Ridgefield do not belong in this poll based upon performance. Simply put Ridgefield can’t score on a quality team.

St. Joes is for real and it’s possible but not likely that they will beat Greenwich.

A person in the know who is a computer whiz has figured out the Fciac playoff points and said that even if New Canaan loses to Greenwich they will qualify for the fciac if they beat Central. Any truth to that?

The QB for Central is a tremendous player both offensively and defensively.

  5. JJS,

I decided it was better to include more teams than leave some out. People don’t have to vote for them. I think after Friday night we will have a better read on things, especially if Greenwich gets a second loss.
I haven’t figured out all the possibilities. I was consumed all week finishing a feature I have been working weeks on that ran today. Another busy week with FCIAC playoffs in all other sports so not sure I’ll have the time to run them but I will try. Very hard to do too early because of bonus points.
