There will be limited parking for Tuesday night’s FCIAC Boys Basketball Tournament semifinal games at Sacred Heart University, with Stamford playing St. Joseph at 6 p.m., followed by Bridgeport Central and Bassick in the nightcap.
There will be three shuttle buses taking fans from across the street at Notre Dame High School to the Pitt Center starting at 5 p.m.

Gman Right on with your assesment
Dan, The CIAC has nothing to do with pairing up FCIAC teams to play each other. It is a random listing acording to ones record and lot number. Twenty years ago the Ciac divided the state into four regional sections and all the Fciac schools had to play each other to advance. Some teams were playing each other three and four times during the season. thankfully, they did away with that after a three year trial period.
There’s one problem with the Ciac tournament. The SCC and FCiac have so many teams in the Class LL they will always match up with one another somewhere down the road.
Every sport is affected unless you are fortunate to play in the L,M or S division to avoid meeting another FCIAC team.
many people think the FCIAC basketball teams are way down but if you look at the polls around the state they list Central and ST. Joes one and two.
It seems like the ciac is always pairing up FCIAC teams to play each other early on in the tournaments.
TC Gets Bloomfield in the 2nd round of M should they both win. SHS meanwhile got screwed. 13-7 got them a date at Crosby and if they win another shot at …yup u guessed. St.Joes again !! Unreal
Pinson could not be a star at Iona Prep.
johnnybegood: Regarding Remy Pinson coming to Trinity…I think he had some type of AAU relationship with Rash. Jones..The question I have is why Trinity and not Iona Prep..The Gaels are one of the top teams in the CHSAA league…Iona Prep is closer to his home in Rye. He certainly would have played in many more competitive games. And Iona Prep coach is one of the better coaches in area.
And tomorrow we will likely find out will be Trinity’s opponent in the second round if both schools win.
Trinity does NOT have the best talent in M. That belongs to Bloomfield who are clear favorites to win the class M title after finishing runners up to Sacred Heart last year.
OK then let’s see them win the Class M Championship Johnny BE good….
Not sure why he left that school. Maybe he wanted a Catholic Education and wasn’t happy in Rye.
Trinity still has the best talent in the CLASS M Tournament. Why did Remy leave Rye High School?
Good point about the State v. FCIAC ..I agree with you there but that is where it stops GMan…..
I wanna see Coach Walsh win one without the most talent in the League…..
I am glad he is coming back to Coach because he is good for the kids and the League but let me see him win one without the most talent.
Thanks

Dear Basketball Fans,
Remy picking up his fourth foul had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. He played with reckless abandon the entire second half of the game. In truth St. Joes had a much better team Trinity-Coach Walsh did the correct thing in playing Remy. The coaching staff staff at Trinity has done a remarkable job keeping this team together after so many personal setbacks. Stamford has a slim chance of beating ST. Joes and I think that the Cadets will upset Central in the final.
Now the argument will be WHAT is more important ” Winning the FCIAC TITLE or the STATE Championship”? Take the FCIAC and forget it because it means very little to me compared to the State Titles but people in the Fciac think winning their chammpionship is the do all to end all in all sports. Don’t get me wrong it’s always nice to win your league but lets get serious when comparing one to the other.
No idea on parking. Wish it was at Warde too!
Dave the lot at NDFFLD is not that big will they allow parkin on the street or side roads? If not, they should have kept them at warde. also, for those that don’t know the pitt center, pack a dinner and an oxygen tank for the uphill walk !! lol
We wouldn’t put a quarterfinal win on the front page of the paper. That would be based on the significance of the accomplishment and the number of big news stories on the day. If Trinity girls had won FCIAC title (or any other school before the Trinity bias garbage is thrown out there) that might have made the cover depending on what was happening in news that day.
Dave, I meant the actual cover of the entire paper not the sports section. This is the way for me to know who wins before I open the paper etc. It’s all good. And I believe you do a great job covering the local scene fairly.

I didn’t see yesterday’s paper but I received a note Saturday night from the office telling me my Trinity story was moved off the cover because of space. My Stamford story was 200 words longer because it was the biggest news of the two games.
I’m not going to defend myself. At various times I have been accused of favoring each of Stamford’s three schools. I’m mostly amused by it because I don’t see why anyone at our paper would have reason to favor anyone. It’s perception over reality.
At the same time, to accuse me of bias is to accuse me of being unprofessional, and I take extreme offense at that.
And i’ll leave it at that.
Joe,
I am not sure I agree with your assessments that the TC bias is legendary. Is it there ? Maybe but that is stretching. I knew that Trinity lost and SHS won when I picked up the next day paper and didn’t find any information until I got to the Sports Area. Had Trinity pulled off the upset of the magnitude that SHS did it would have been plastered all over the paper. When we didn’t see any results on the front page then you knew it was a double loss for them.
Not sure that is Dave’s doing or some Editor in the Advocate office. Not being at the game, what did Ryan Walsh do in the game ?
Wow Joe thanks: I didn’t know I had achieved legendary status! What Ryan did was wrong too but didn’t impact the game. And Mike immediately took him out. And if Langston had not drawn the fourth foul, I wouldn’t have mentioned the acting job. I’d like to know where there was one personal feeling in the article: I was describing what happened.
Dave your TC bias is legendary. No mention of Walsh’s sons actics, cheap shots, trash talk during the game? Is that the way the game should be played in your eyes? Ever see Tevin act out, yell at his coach, yell at teamates as he did regularly at TC? I sure did. Did you ever write about it as you did with Langston. Of course not! Do us a favor and keep your personal feelings out of you articles.
Thanks Dave for admitting I have a valid argument on taking Pinson out!
As for St. Josephs, No I didn’t see the play and I am sure the kid did a wonderful acting job to get call/s. Keep in mind that “acting jobs” occur a whole lot sometimes in basketball and that all teams perform them.
On that note, don’t like to beat a dead horse, have a good week of games.

Taking Remy out is a valid argument. As for Langston, did you watch him? I was describing what he did and I was being kind. If I was offering commentary I’d be saying that’s not the way the game should be played.
But the Cadets’ Greg Langston, who did some of the worst acting ever seen on a basketball court to get a fourth foul called on Trinity star Remy Pinson, successfully accomplished that feat legitimately with a great pump fake on a 3-point attempt.
Langston made all three shots to send the Cadets into the locker room with a 42-32 lead, and a 14-0 run early in the third quarter sent them on their way to an easy 84-70 win that was not as close as the final score would indicate.
“The key play in the game was when Remy picked up his fourth foul,” Trinity coach Mike Walsh said. “They are a good team, much better than the last time we played them. They are going to be a tough out.”
Dave – Your opinion was that it was the best acting job etc. very slanted….now you know how much I respect your work here but cmon, that kid shouldn’t have been on the court with 3 fouls that late in the half…there were no dead ball whistles with one to two minutes to go in the half where Walsh could have taken the kid out for a couple of minutes. And if not, this goes back to my other point that he had no bench. In any event, some coaches don’t want kids getting even 3 fouls in the first half let alone 4 fouls.
One other point: I hope that Jimmy Moriarty gets his props no matter what happens from here on out. Last year , he shocked the FCIAC by upsetting Trinity and this year his team is still playing despite a lack of a point guard. Thanks Dave.

Dave u hit it. Remy should have never picked up 3 or 4 in the first half while in the game. one was a reach hack on a lay up he had no prayer of stopping and then with 3 he fell for he pump fake. I thought with 30 seconds left and 3 fouls he should have been sat though. It’s one posession each and I would rather be down 12 and have remy with 3 fouls then with 4 down 10.
I would love to see SHS upset Joes but that is a monster task. Thier height and pressure against SHS guards is a match up nightmare. Other than Jethro SHS doesn’t handle it well when pressed. Marc G. has to go off tommrow night and I really think the outside shooting for both teams will be off due to the big gym and depth perception behind the hoops. Those rims are tight to !
No one was complaining about the call on the fourth foul. It was a foul. I think that at the point Remy picked up the third foul, Mike was afraid that by taking him out of the game St. Joseph would go on a big run and end the game by halftime.
We were talking about it in the stands. Under normal circumstances you take him out. But seeing Trinity needed to keep the game close for as long as possible to have a chance, I think Mike made the right call.
Dave,
Read your article about Trinity. It sounds like sour grapes to me that Pinson picked up his 4th foul with little time to go in the first half. Even if it was a bad call , what was he doing in the game with 3 fouls in the first half ? Does Trinity not have a bench again this year ?
You know how much I think of Coach Walsh but he needs to develop more than 6-7 kids every year if he is going to compete for Championships without having the very best Div. 1 talent.
Thanks

Great win for the Black Knights. I told you they would pull off the upset. I think they have a good shot against St. Josephs too. Go Stamford !
