Williams, Ceglarski BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Players Of The Week

Westhill’s Morgan Williams delivers a pitch against Brien McMahon on Friday.

Morgan Williams of the Westhill High School baseball team and Cali Ceglarski of the Darien girls lacrosse team are this week’s winners of the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week awards.

Williams and Ceglarski will receive plaques and T-shirts from BlueStreak.

Two days after allowing one run over the final three innings to get a save in a win over Fairfield Warde, Williams came to the Vikings’ rescue last Friday at Brien McMahon. After starting pitcher John Porter injured himself making a play on the first batter, Williams came in and went the distance, allowing just four hits in leading Westhill to a 2-1 win. Williams struck out seven and was not charged with the run.

Ceglarski, one of the leaders of the Blue Wave, had a big week in helping her team to 14-6 wins over Fairfield Warde and Danbury, and a 19-4 victory against Fairfield Ludlowe. Ceglarski finished with 10 goals and four assists in the three games.

Nominations are open now until Tuesday at noon for this week’s winners.

To nominate an athlete, click on the replica of the T-shirt the winners receive on the right-hand side of this blog, below the BlueStreak ad. Then email in the name of the person you are nominating. Please include all of the player’s statistics for the week as well as the team results.

The award will be judged on games/matches played Monday through Saturday of each week. Please wait until an athlete is done competing for the week to submit your nomination.
