Though the Staples High School baseball and Westhill softball teams enter this week’s FCIAC playoffs, which begin tomorrow, as the favorites, each tournament should be extremely wide open.
There is not much separating the teams in each field, and recent history has seen lower seeds win the baseball tournament.
So we are going to give readers the chance to vote: who do you think is going to win the baseball and softball championships? We will keep the voting open until noon on Thursday, though it will be most interesting to see where the voting is at 4 p.m. tomorrow before the first games are played.
Ludlowe may just win this FCIAC baseball tourney. They have very strong hitters with Ferrara, Nagy, Malone and Rossomando.
Trumbull has the best pitcher in the league so you have to give them the edge.
St. Joes has the best hitting but overall Westhill has the best combined pitching and hitting. Look for a big upset in the first round.
