The voting is now open to crown the Overtime High School Football Team of the Week award, sponsored by BlueStreak Sports Training, Garden Catering and The Stamford Advocate.
Norwalk was the first winner last week.
The three finalists are: Staples, a 35-6 winner over Norwalk; New Canaan, which defeated Trinity Catholic, 48-8; and Wilton, which upset St. Joseph, 27-14.
The winning team, thanks to BlueStreak and Garden Catering, will receive a trophy and 60 T-Shirts with the award logo on the front in the primary color of the school.
The voting is open until noon on Wednesday and will count for 50 percent. The other half will come from the decision of a committee made up of Sean Patrick Bowley, the online sports producer for Hearst Connecticut Newspapers, Pat Pickens, the sports editor of the Fairfield Citizen-News, and Tim Parry, who runs the FCIAC Football Blog.
If the decision of the voters and the majority of the committee differs, the tie will be settled by The Advocate sports department.

I believe that Wilton dont not have strong organization. They really should not win this voting. Staples had a great win this week and should for sure win it. Wilton needs to improve there defense and there passing of the football. So GOOD luck everybody.
With Staples and New Canaan, you come to expect winning performances each week. However, for Wilton to come up with a great win against a team that is universally regarded as superior, you’ve got to tip your hats to them. That’s the definition of “Team of the Week” in my book!
Thanks for the plug, although St. Joe’s was ranked 3rd in the Bill Gonillo 5 this week behind New Canaan and Staples (http://fciacfootballblog.com/category/bill-gonillo-5/). But 16 members of the media (including Dave, including the FCIAC Football Blog crew) who said St. Joe’s was better than Wilton.
Congratulations to the Warriors on its big win.
Wilton (0-1) beats one of the best teams in the state, ranked higher according to fciac football blog, than both new canaan and staples. Nuff said
