Trumbull High School’s Marissa Pearson with Dave Ruden.
For logistical reasons, sponsor BlueStreak Sports Training usually handles awarding our BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week winners.
But since I had to be in Trumbull yesterday and the Eagles were our Overtime Team of the Week, I got the pleasure of handing out the award for the first time, to Trumbull High School soccer player Marissa Pearson.
Pearson finished with three goals and three assists to help the Eagles in their run for a league playoff berth with 6-0 wins over Danbury and Bridgeport Central.
It wasn’t an Academy Award ceremony, but Pearson’s teammates seemed excited for her, and she wasn’t too embarrassed to pose for a picture with me.
It was a reminder that high school athletes still appreciate being recognized for their accomplishments.
I might have to start making these presentations more often!

oh yea….who was the Coach from stamford who won ? perhaps i can recollect…thanks
It has happened with local coaches before – I have Giants season tickets so I know – but that in no way minimizes the great recognition for what Hocter is doing.
Dave
Congratulations to Coach Hocter from the Black Knights for that most deserving award of Coach of the Week ! The Football Giants recognize good coaching when they see it and it’s terrific that the Coach got this for Stamford.
Something like this has NEVER happened. The time has come for the public to learn more about this dedicated man.
Thanks
