It has come to my attention tonight that all the comments attributed to Susie Yu, who is a real student at Wilton, were sent in by someone or others besides herself. Apparently this caused her a lot of unrest at school today. I just received an email from her and one from her friend.
As someone who started this award to recognize the accomplishments of high school athletes, I find this troubling to say the least. I feel bad for the people who were offended by the words she did not write, and more so I feel bad for Susie.
At her request, I am removing all the comments with her name on them. I have a call into the Wilton coach and I am going to discuss the possibility of disqualifying the Wilton team, and if so, whether to give the award to the second place team or have no winner this week. I am also suspending the voting for this week as of now.
I am going to see what I can do to prevent something like this from happening again. I must approve all comments to begin with, and will post everything as long as it is appropriate. I am going to talk to our IT people about doing something to prevent people from using fake email addresses. As this proves, it is impossible to safeguard against someone using fakes names, but since starting the blog this is the first time a situation has gone to this extreme.
My apologies to the other finalists this week as well for having to suspend the contest.
It is a pretty sad commentary when an attempt to do something positive for athletes is spoiled by this sort of immature behavior.
Dave

I can only go by what the athletic department AND the student in question told me.
is that a joke? the basketball team wasn’t involved? try going to our school for a day and you’ll think otherwise. they’re denying it because they wanted the t-shirts. its kinda obvious…. i agree with Jamison, she should definitely file a complaint.
Heard from her last night. Waiting to hear from school but it looks like the basketball team was not involved. This is a situation for school to handle.
It was not only stupid, but it might also be illegal identity theft. Perhaps she should file a complaint.
Hello all,
Please be aware that the supposed post by Susie Yu was not at all her.
Instead, it was one of the spineless guys on the WHS basketball team, I’m pretty darned ashamed to call whoever this guy is my classmate. The fact that she gets this crap all the time from people who owe her nothing but love is terribly unfortunate.
To whomever did write it. Here’s what I suggest you do.
1. Grow up
2. Own up
3. Make something of your life.
Recognize the fact that you’re defacing someone elses reputation, when you are in fact the one who deserves to be getting crap.
I’m sorry that everyone here had to witness Wilton at its worst.

i love how the darien gymnastics team is taking the higher road yet still sticking up for themselves. YOU GIRLS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
gymnasts are some of the toughest people you will ever meet. What muscles does basketball use? your fingers? Gymnastics works your entire body, I’d like to see a male gymnast compared to a basketball player.

“go blue” you are my idol.thanks.
I agree with ‘Go Blue’- people don’t realize how much time, effort, and physical and mental strength the girls put into gymnastics. I don’t think anyone of your basketball players can throw a backtuck on a four inch wide beam thats 4 feet tall. And btw your Wilton High School Gymnastics team brought your school a new record at one of their other meets this year…
Gymnasts, Cheerleaders: this person is all yours.
