Abby Markowitz of the Greenwich girls track team is this year’s winner of the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Winter Female Player of the Year award.
Markowitz will receive a trophy and T-shirt from BlueStreak Sports Training and the Stamford Advocate.
Markowitz hit a rare trifecta by sweeping the 1,000-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs at the FCIAC Championships. Markowitz also won the 1,000 at the Class LL meet and placed third in the 1,000 at the State Open and New England Championships.
Markowitz finished with 471 votes to defeat Olivia Hompe of the New Canaan girls hockey team, Chelsea LeVander of the Wilton gymnastics team and Casey Smith of the Danbury girls basketball team.
The voting for the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Winter Male Player of the Year will begin on Sunday morning. The finalists will be announced tomorrow.
The voting for the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week will resume during the first week of the spring sports season.
