Call it a win for Wynne.
Henry Wynne of the Staples boys track team is this year’s winner of the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Winter Male Player of the Year award.
Wynne will receive a trophy and T-shirt from BlueStreak Sports Training and the Stamford Advocate.
Wynne won the 1,000 and 1,600 at the FCIAC Championships, the 1,000 and was part of the winning sprint medley and 4×400 relay teams at the Class LL and State Open meets, won the 1,000 and 4×400 at the New England Championships and was sixth in the sprint medley relay, eighth in the 1,000 and 10th in the 800 at Nationals. The sprint medley relay time set a state record.
Wynne finished with 3,118 votes to defeat one of our most impressive fields ever, including Ridgefield’s Sean Wilkinson, Greenwich’s Marcus Motill, St. Joseph’s Timajh Parker, Danbury’s Kevin Jack and Norwalk’s Brandon Riggins.
The final votes of the season, for the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Winter Coach and Team of the Year, will begin on Sunday morning. The finalists will be announced tomorrow.
The voting for the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week will resume during the first week of the spring sports season.
