Because of the holiday weekend, for this week only we used the results of games played Wednesday and Thursday to determine the finalists for the first Overtime FCIAC Team of the Week for the spring.

And for this week we also have a theme: all seven finalists are boys teams off to hot starts: The Staples baseball, Greenwich baseball, Fairfield Ludlowe baseball, Westhill boys tennis, Wilton boys lacrosse, Norwalk boys lacrosse and Stamford boys lacrosse teams.

The winner will get T-shirts with our logo courtesy of BlueStreak Sports Training, Garden Catering, the Stamford Advocate, Karl Chevrolet, Innovative Health and Rehabilitation, Chelsea Piers and New Balance of New Canaan.

The Wreckers won a pair of games by a 28-7 margin.

The Cardinals shut out both Norwalk and Stamford.

The Falcons rallied to defeat Wilton and then edged Berlin.

The Vikings won both their matches by scores of 7-0.

The Warriors defeated New Canaan in a rematch of last year’s Class M final, 9-5.

The Bears knocked off St. Joseph in double overtime, 7-6.

The Black Knights edged city rival Westhill, 10-9.

The voting is open until noon on Wednesday. So vote below and check back to find out who is this week’s Overtime FCIAC Team of the Week.

Since it is an FCIAC award, Bethel is ineligible for consideration.

I realize this poll is for games Wednesday + Thursday. There was a great OT Boys LAX game between Stamford High + Bethel on Saturday afternoon. The game was awesome. Bethel won in Sudden Death/OT. :)
