The Darien girls swimming team held off a strong challenge from the Stamford boys soccer team and is the Overtime FCIAC Team of the Week.
The Tigers will receive a plaque and T-shirts courtesy of BlueStreak Sports Training, Garden Catering, the Stamford Advocate, Karl Chevrolet, Innovative Health and Rehabilitation, New Balance of New Canaan, Riko’s Pizza, Mitchells/Richards, Bobby Valentine’s Sports Gallery Cafe, Voice of an Angel and Dr. Brown’s Baby Products.
The Blue Wave finished with 15,087 votes — 48 percent of the vote — to hold off the Black Knights, who received 13,431 votes. The Fairfield Ludlowe volleyball, Staples volleyball, Greenwich field hockey and Westhill girls soccer teams were the other finalists.
We will pick a new set of finalists for this week’s award, with the vote starting Sunday.
