Staples places 5, New Canaan 2 on All-State football team

Staples receiver James Frusciante is one of five Wreckers voted to the All-State team.

FCIAC champion Staples placed five players on the All-State Football Team, which was selected on Tuesday night and released today. New Canaan has two players and Greenwich and Darien one each on the 30-player team.

Staples players honored includoe receiver James Frusciante, offensive lineman Kyle Vaughn, defensive lineman Jared Levi and defensive backs Nick Kelly and Joey Zelkowitz.

New Canaan players represented are linebacker Cole Harris and defensive back Grady Lynch.

Greenwich defensive back Taylor Olmstead and Darien defensive lineman Matt D’Andrea also made the team.

Additionally, there are 13 FCIAC players on the Class LL team, five on the Class L team, three on the Class M team and two on the Class S team.
