For my final blog post of 2012, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support of the Overtime Blog, the FCIAC Player and Team of the Week awards, as well as my work for the Stamford Advocate.
Sometime around Nov. 1 marked my 30th year covering the FCIAC and 20 years since I first started at the Advocate. In between, for a short time I left the paper and went to work at ESPN. I was excited by the opportunity, but I vividly remember walking to my car after my first day there and thinking to myself “I made a mistake.”
I was right. I feel fortunate to have a job where I enjoy getting up in the morning, like the people I work with and the coaches and athletes I write about. I think about some of my closest friends now, and many of them I met through working at the Advocate, including coaches, parents of athletes and even many of the athletes themselves.
Having said that, I want to wish everyone out there a very happy and healthy 2013.
