Video Spotlight: The New Canaan softball team’s FCIAC championship medal and trophy awards ceremonies

The New Canaan softball team had never won an FCIAC playoff game before Monday. On Thursday afternoon, the Rams won their first-ever league championship in the sport, a well-played 2-1 victory over top-seeded St. Joseph.

Cydney Ventura pitched a seven-hit shutout and allowed just one unearned run. She was named the most valuable player. Danielle Simoneau, 20 years after winning an FCIAC championship pitching for Westhill, won one as a coach.

Below are the championship and medal award ceremonies for New Canaan.
