Hey Dave...just thought I would share. I was at the 1st day of the Decathalon in New Britain yesterday. Maybe not newsworthy but...will be returning today as the 3 athletes from Danbury High School who competed, earned enough points to return today. Congrats to them!

Besides publicizing the chance to nominate on my blog and Facebook fan page, I send out about 3 emails a week during the entire season to every FCIAC coach and athletic director with updates and reminders. I spend considerable time trying to get the word out to make sure that athletes from every sport and every school get a fair chance. All the finalists were nominated by someone. It is impossible to keep track of everything 100 percent but I make every effort to try. I think both wrestlers that are finalists had seasons that justify their inclusion here.

Dave-
As an FCIAC wrestling coach I just wondered how the athletes were selected to be one of the five finalists for FCIAC Male Athlete of the Year?
Travis Tiger (my athlete and son) and Mike Sullivan from Fairfield Warde were selected as Co-FCIAC Wrestlers of the Year last week by the FCIAC coaches. While both Peirre-Saint and Anderson had wonderful years I just wonder how if you don't win athlete of the year in your own sport, how you can win it for all sports.
I hope this makes sense and we have a better understanding for selections going forward.

Just want to make sure you noticed that the RHS Girls Hockey team played 40 extra minutes on Mon night vs Simsbury in 8 separate overtime periods before winning. Great effort on behalf of both teams!

As we say in the profession Donna, "Good catch." With all the details that come with setting this up I knew I wasn't going to pitch a shutout in the typo/mistake department! And thanks. I like to think this vote generates some fun while also recognizing the accomplishments of many great athletes: all 12 people here are most deserving of the spotlight.
