I guess you can’t say the Treibt twins – Travis and Trevor – were unsung heroes for Team Connecticut in last night’s Governor’s Cup win over the Rhode Island all-stars.
You’d think that since the outside linebackers and Brookfield graduates shared the Coaches Choice Award for Connectucut, which annually goes to the player who exhibits the characteristics of pride, determination, dedication and the pursuit of excellence the week leading up to the game.
But they both stood out on the field, and not because of their trademark beards (which have been well-trimmed since being grown out during the 2008 season).
Travis recovered a partially blocked punt for Connecticut, and Trevor picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards.
Trust me, both Treibet twins showed their enthusiasm, with their huge leaps through the air to celebrate a ternover for Team Connecticut.
If you never got a chance to see them add some spark to a game, there’s one more chance on July 10: They will play for Fairfield County in the Hall-of-Fame Classic.
