Former Princeton captain Kyle Koncz has been named director of basketball operations at Fairfield University. Koncz, who played for coach Sydney Johnson with the Tigers, replaces recently promoted assistant coach Martin Bahar.
Koncz arrives from Williams College where he was an assistant for Mike Maker. He also spent two years coaching AAU basketball with former Providence Friar Dickey Simpkins in Chicago. Koncz was a two-time recipient of the B.F. Bunn Award with the Tigers – an award given annually to a player for his sportsmanship, play and influence on the sport.
Koncz’s hiring completes Johnson’s staff for next season. The Stags are also at a full roster for 2012-13 at the moment, though Keegan Hyland’s status continues to remain uncertain. Johnson said earlier this week that he had no timetable for a decision on Hyland, who recently underwent hip surgery.
