Ludlowe football coach McCloskey to resign

|

Fairfield Ludlowe football coach Matt McCloskey will resign effective this season’s end.

Fairfield Ludlowe football coach Matt McCloskey will resign effective the end of the 2012 season.

The announcement was confirmed Friday morning by Ludlowe athletic director Dave Schulz, via email.

Ludlowe is 1-5 this season and McCloskey has a 12-34 record in his 4 1/2 years as the Falcons’ coach. That record includes a 2009 victory via forfeit. Ludlowe has lost 24 of its last 26 games, dating back to 2010.

The Falcons will play tonight at 6 p.m. at Stamford. Who knows if this announcement will become a distraction for the Falcons players, or whether they’ll rally behind the lame duck coach.

But we’ll update this story as more information becomes available. Feel free to comment below if you have information to add as well.
