This week’s theme is the cold.
Yet Fairfield co-op hockey is white-hot.
The team is in the midst of a six-game streak it deems essential to its state playoff hopes. Fairfield, thus far, is 4-for-6. The co-op squad pitched back-to-back shutouts this week.
Conor Scharlop and Kevin Robinson each deposited highlight-reel goals. Robinson’s line of him, Matthew Larouche and Charlie Meder had a huge week, compiling 10 points in the two games.
Fairfield Prep hockey and basketball stayed hot, as well. Prep’s pucksters beat New Jersey’s No. 3 team, Don Bosco Prep, 4-2 Thursday. The Jesuits’ basketball team won by 30 against West Haven on Thursday as well.
ND-Fairfield boys basketball faced Bethel, Thursday, in what could be an SWC tournament preview. But the Wildcats won round one in Bethel, 69-61.
Warde’s basketball teams fell to Westhill. The Mustangs have a bye Friday before taking on arch-rival Ludlowe Tuesday. I’ll have a preview of those games in this space coming Monday.
Next week’s coverage schedule
