Notre Dame and Hamden meet Monday to decide the other berth in Wednesday’s SCC hockey final.

Three local wrestlers qualified for this weekend’s New England Wrestling Championships in Providence, R.I.

Warde’s Ahmed Hourani (285) and Phaoroah Eaton (132) each earned a third-place finish, and Ludlowe’s George Wales finished fifth at 106, earning a trip to Providence, as well.

The Mustangs finished fifth– their best finish since placing sixth in 2010.

While none of the teams are from Fairfield, both Fairfield high schools are the FCIAC boys basketball tournament’s hosts.

The quarterfinals were Saturday at Ludlowe, and the event shifts across town Tuesday. Second-seeded Trinity Catholic will play No. 6 Wilton at 6 p.m., top-seeded St. Joseph will face No. 4 Bridgeport Central in the night cap.

The championship game will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Warde.

I’ll be at the SCC semis on Monday.
