Getting cash for textbooks

With the semester coming to an end, many students wonder what they should do with their old textbooks.

Here are some options:

*Many companies, including the UConn Co-op, “buyback” textbooks.
*Sell books on a marketplace such as Amazon.com or Half.com
*See if any of your friends are taking the same class that you took this semester and offer to sell them your books. Or post your textbook list on your Facebook account.

But I never thought of selling books to an on-campus organization. Here’s an e-mail I recently received:

MyBookCart.com will be hosting a textbook buyback event at UConn in the Student Union on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 from 9am – 8pm and on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 from 9am – 4:30pm. Students can sell back their textbooks for cash. This event benefits the UConn Marketing Society.

If anybody knows of other UConn organizations who are using textbooks as a fundraising tool, drop me an e-mail (jay.polansky (at) uconn.edu) and I’ll add to this post.
