Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford, co-chairman of the recently created Commission on Enhancing Agency Outcomes, told me today that the group may cancel additional public hearings intended to gain residents’ input on how best to streamline state government.
Slossberg blamed the busy schedules of commission members along with the limited turnout at the group’s first two public hearings in New Haven and Danbury.
I asked Slossberg if that means taxpayers just don’t care enough about decreasing the size of state government.
“I think there’s public interest. I think there are only certain people willing to come out to a public hearing,” Slossberg said.
The group, whose members also include Sen. Bob Duff, D-Norwalk and Rep. John Hetherington, R-New Canaan, was supposed to have visited Norwalk tonight but that was cancelled. There are no plans to reschedule.
