Hot N’ Cold Rob Simmons makes Katy Perry song primary theme

by:

U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, who has been in, then out, then in, then out, then in, then out, then in the current GOP primary for U.S. Senate, just announced, on top of today’s news that he will participate in a debate and is launching a television advertisement, that he has also selected this campaign theme song.

Katy Perry’s hot right now, so that should at least secure Simmons some of the youth vote, even if he isn’t quite sure what a California Gurl or a Snoop Dog is.

Obviously kidding. But I’m certain GOP nominee Linda McMahon’s camp will get a kick out of my theme song suggestion considering the statement they just issued about today’s news regarding Simmons:

————

West Hartford, Conn., July 21, 2010 Linda McMahon for Senate 2010 spokesman Ed Patru today issued the following statement in response to Rob Simmons’ partly re-activated yet still semi-curtailed campaign:

“For eight months, Rob Simmons promised Connecticut Republicans that he would not primary if he lost the convention. He lost the convention, then immediately announced he would primary. Hours later, he dismissed his staff and announced he wouldn’t primary. Over the past two months, he’s been engaged in a very strange and erratic effort to reconcile his promise not to run with his desire to return to Washington. Today, we are as confused as everyone else.

“Rob Simmons has said many times he’s a man of his word, and we take him at his word. Should he decide to officially un-curtail his campaign, we’re prepared for that, as we have been since September 2009.

“Until that happens, following Rob Simmons’ on-again, off-again campaign is a little like trying to keep up with an Abbott and Costello routine… Who’s on first?

Ed Patru said “Simmons promised for eight months (e.g. before the convention) to Connecticut Republicans that he would not primary if he lost the convention. That was when he was sure the nomination was in the bag. In otherwords, an empty promise has morphed into an empty suit.

Simmons must have a rich fantacy life, dreaming of going back to Washington as an upgrade. He’s been gaga, missing the social parties given by the democrat mesdames. He voted the democrat party line inorder to be first in the nightime party line, swizzeling down martinis.

Simmons couldn’t hang onto a congressional seat in a small bucolic Eastern Connecticut district. How could he hope to compete statewide and hold his own in sophisticated Lower Fairfield County.
