Donation to the Dems: $1,000
Getting your picture taken with First Lady Michelle Obama: $10,000
Bearing witness to the mother of all Senate races: Priceless
First Lady Michelle Obama will return to Stamford — the city where she made a much-ballyhooed diner stop leading up to her husband’s 2008 Super Tuesday triumph over Hillary Rodham Clinton in Connecticut’s Democratic primary — for a fundraiser for Richard Blumenthal’s imperiled Senate bid on Monday at the Palace Theatre, according to the event invitation.
Tickets to the sold-out luncheon affair start at $1,000 per person and go up to $5,000 for premium access and $10,000 if you want a photo op with the first lady for posterity’s sake.
Attendance is being capped at 100 backers of the Democratic cause.
The first $2,400 of individual donations will go to Blumenthal’s campaign, which could sure use the cash against the largely self-funded wrestling matriarch Linda McMahon.
If a donor has already given the $2,400 max to Blumenthal, the money will go to the state Democrats and then the Democratic National Committee.
State party donations are capped at $5,000. The DNC is last in the pecking order.
