No local TV for GOP at Hyatt Regency

Republicans who gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich on Tuesday night had to get their local election results from a smartphone, whether it was a BlackBerry, an iPhone, a Droid or some other device.

As it turns out, the hotel’s television service is provided by DIRECTV, which doesn’t carry local TV stations — or their local election coverage.

For those without Internet-capable phones at the Hyatt Regency, there were about a half-dozen flat screen TVs in the ballroom, all broadcasting Fox News.

Although Fox periodically scrolled the Connecticut governor’s race and U.S. Senate race across the bottom of the screen, there was no other local Connecticut coverage.
