Foley: ‘The future of Connecticut is at stake’

In a news conference in downtown Stamford Wednesday afternoon, Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley of Greenwich said his campaign’s internal numbers don’t jibe with the numbers Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is citing declaring Dannel Malloy the winner of Tuesday’s election by a mere 3,103 votes.

“We know the secretary of the state has us down by a little over 3,100 votes, but our internal numbers don’t agree with those.”

Foley said his numbers show he won the election by a little under 2,000 votes which under state law would trigger an automatic recount. Foley said he plans on talking to Bysiewicz this afternoon to determine how she arrived at her final tally.

“The future of Connecticut is at stake,” Foley said. “It’s too important not to make sure the election numbers are what was cast.”
