Republicans Tom Foley, Mark Boughton meeting in Hartford

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley and his running mate, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, are meeting at about 3 p.m. in an office building in Hartford to discuss the ongoing situation “as it relates to the counting” of ballots, Boughton said moments before stepping into the gathering.

Boughton said he’s concerned with the fluctuations in the vote tallies in the gubernatorial race within the last two days. Early results from the Associated Press Wednesday showed Foley in the lead, while revised figures released Thursday put Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dannel Malloy out in front.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is expected to release new voter tallies this afternoon.

“The numbers have been all over the map,” Boughton said during a phone interview with The News-Times. “There is no rush to judgement here. Lets get all the votes accounted for and however they stack up, they stack up. That’s Democracy.”
