First look at Blumenthal’s new digs

Just got the grand tour of Richard Blumenthal’s modest suite in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

“The tour’s not too long,” Ty Matsdorf, Blumenthal’s communications director, quipped.

Blumenthal and his staff will occupy the ground floor suite SD-G55 for about three months until he gets a permanent office assignment based on seniority.

I counted about five desks, including the senator’s, plus a conference room where a closed-door meeting was taking place.

A room with a view: Blumenthal’s window faces north towards Union Station.

As temporary offices go for freshmen senators, Blumenthal’s aides say that the modest space is above average — at least they have natural light from the outside.
