LeBeau: senators are more important than House members

As the House and Senate were approving new two-year terms for Speaker of the House Chris Donovan, D-Meriden and Minority Leader Larry Cafero, R-Norwalk, upstairs in the Senate, Sen. Gary LeBeau, D-East Hartford questioned Majority Leader Marty Looney, D-New Haven, on rules. LeBeau noted that since there are only 36 senators, compared to 151 members of the House, each Senate vote is equal to 4.2 House votes. Each senator, he added, represents 95,000 state residents, compared to 22,500 for each House member.
