Corrections officers lead list of 328 state layoffs

|

Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s administration released a department-by-department list of layoff notices that have been issued so far, led by 222 in the Department of Correction.

Out of those 222, 191 are corrections officers.

The Office of Policy and Management said there have been 328 layoffs so far, according to a release by Malloy spokesperson Colleen Flanagan.

The Department of Mental Health and Addiction has sent out 89 layoff notices, and the Department of Construction Services sent out 14.

The list does not include layoffs or separations prior to June 1.

Noticed employees may have legal and contractual rights, such as bumping, in lieu of layoffs.

Position counts are unduplicated.

The list doesn’t include Legislative or Judicial Branches, or constituent units of higher education.

I didn’t vote for the guy but you know what there needs to be cuts!! These over paid state workers that can’t even spell their own names and didn’t even make it out of high school are making close to a 100k a year? Do 20 in out and live off on a fat pension and have the best health care benefits?? Go work for a living and try to make that money somewhere else! The people who know people or kiss someone’s ass to get a job are going to be in the unemployment line hehehe!! I love it, keep cutting Malloy their free ride is over. The people that are working the system need to be cut out of the system they are sucking money out of the state. At one point we had more state workers than Massachusetts??? No sympathy from me. I have multiple college degrees and was just laid off and I know morons that have state jobs because they knew someone that make just as much as I did and I worked with peoples lives?? I hope they get the ax to see how it feels! My hat is off to you Mr. Malloy keep cutting the state jobs that are not needed!!

Malloy you are a bum! Instead of blaming employees for what is going on you should be blaming present and past politicians for creating the atmosphere currently in play. State employees did not give themselves one benefit, pay raise or job security! Your fellow demorcratic politians and union elites gave the state of connecticut the burden it has to fix. State employees only went along with what was given to then by the whores who ran government at the time. The democratic/liberal nanny state minded legislature created this problem not state employees. ‘”LAY OFF EVERY ONE OF THEM AND ELECT PEOPLE WHO WILL PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION, AND THE CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT STATE!!!!

  3. bocon says:

“YOU ARE THE BLAME”. Are correctional officers the blame, NO, are other state employees the blame? NO. YOU the voters of connecticut are the blame. YOU HAVE CONSISTENTLY VOTED FOR LIBBERAL “NANNY STATE” POLITICIANS TO RUN YOUR STATE. They, not employees give away free stuff during negotiations. They, think that it is necessary to raise taxes on everything possible! They, want the give me everything free ilk to continue to take from you, “THE STRIVER, THE MOTIVATED, THE LOVER OF THE CONSTITUTION, THEy GO TO WORK EVERY DAY CITIZEN OF THIS STATE. If you want to survive as a state get rid of the Liberal dems/socialists who have dominated government for the last 30 years. Look and see what states are doing OK even in this Obama boondoggle! Please wake up before it is too late!

Malloy has got to be the worst governor that the State of Connecticut has ever had. I hope all of you i***ts who voted this imbicile into office are happy with your choice.

Typical blackmailing of taxpayers. Get rid of the jobs we all do need, like prison guards, and keep the bs patronage jobs we don’t. Why do we even have a Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission or an African American Affairs Commission? Why should some groups get special treatment at the expense of everyone?
