Corrections officers lead list of 328 state layoffs

Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s administration released a department-by-department list of layoff notices that have been issued so far, led by 222 in the Department of Correction.

Out of those 222, 191 are corrections officers.

The Office of Policy and Management said there have been 328 layoffs so far, according to a release by Malloy spokesperson Colleen Flanagan.

The Department of Mental Health and Addiction has sent out 89 layoff notices, and the Department of Construction Services sent out 14.

The list does not include layoffs or separations prior to June 1.

Noticed employees may have legal and contractual rights, such as bumping, in lieu of layoffs.

Position counts are unduplicated.

The list doesn’t include Legislative or Judicial Branches, or constituent units of higher education.
