Stratford republicans endorse candidates

The town’s Republican Town Committee gathered at the Mill River Country Club Thursday night to endorse candidates for the upcoming municipal election.

Five of six republicans currently seated on the council are seeking re-election; all of them won nominations.

Christian Barnaby,Matt Catalano, John Dempsey,Jim Connor and Paul Hoydick were nominated again for council seats in the first, third, fifth, eighth and tenth districts, respectively. 

Joe Kubic was nominated for the ninth district council seat currently occupied by Chairman Thomas Malloy, who will not seek re-election.

Bob Hargus was nominated in the fourth district, Ken Poisson was nominated in the sixth district and Phil Pepin was nominated in the seventh district. No one from the republican party was endorsed for the second district council seat.

Andrea Veilleaux and Robert Chaloux earned nominations for seats on the Board of Education.

“I believe the team that we put together today is obviously a great group of individuals willing to dedicate their time and effort to making our town a better place,” said RTC Chairman Lou Decilio, adding, “The people of Stratford have a clear choice this November: they can continue to move forward or they can rewind back to the last administration.”
