Torres calls Supt. Ramos a “miserable failure”

BRIDGEPORT — Rick Torres, who last week received the GOP nomination for mayor, said Monday that he thinks Superintendent of School John Ramos should leave his job.
“I happen to like John but I think he should go because he is a miserable failure,” said Torres, a Black Rock resident and owner of the Harborview Market, on Monday.
Torres also said he is glad the school board gave up control this month to a yet-to-be appointed panel of individuals and admitted that they could no longer manage the city’s education system.
Torres will run in November against independent Jeff Kohut and the winner of the upcoming Democratic primary for mayor.
Mayor Bill Finch is battling to keep his job and is being challenged by Charles Coviello, Mary-Jane Foster and John Gomes.
