Turnout light so far in Milford, but ‘final kick’ coming

In Milford’s West Shore Neighborhood Center, Bob Dunphy, the polling moderator said turnout was light at about 4:30.

“We’ll be getting the final kick pretty soon,” he said, noting that 871 of the precinct’s 3,400 voters had cast ballots.

Republican mayoral candidate Bernard “Bob” Joy said that other precincts were attracting more voters on the Indian Summer day.

“It’s been a busy day,” Joy said in a sidewalk interview outside the center. “I feel real positive. I feel really good about it. People are receptive to the mission.”

Joy expected a close race. “We operated from day one that it was going to be a toss up.”
